Bradford on Avon Circuit Hasler - 12th June 2022
Venue: Bradford on Avon Rowing Club, Pound Lane, Bradford on Avon, BA15 1LF
Timings: Check in from 10:00 to 10:45.
Briefing at 11:00.
Under 14s Geoff Sanders Trophy starts from 11:30.
Hasler Starts from 12:00.
Races: Divs 1-3 K1 & Divs 2-3 K2 (12 miles)
Divs 4-6 K1 & K2 (8 miles)
(Larger classes may be split depending on numbers entered)
Divs 7-9 K1 & K2 (4miles)
Under 14s A, B, C (2 miles)
Fees: £12 Senior, £10 Junior, £5 Under 14s races
Entries: By British Canoeing Race Entry System. Any entries received later than 10:00am on 6th June will incur a £2 late entry fee per paddler. Team payment via BACs (for details please contact Vicky at vbullen08@gmail.com) or team payments by cash on the day - these must be paid by the club's team leader.
Parking: Free on site parking available in the field opposite the club, in the event of rain this may be changed to the train station car park which is a pay and display. Follow directions from Parking Marshals at the top of Pound Lane. PLEASE NOTE: the BoA Food Festival is happening on the same day so the area around the club will be busy.
Buoyancy Aids: These must be worn by all paddlers ranked in Divisions 7-9 and Geoff Sanders irrespective of race entered. All under 18s must wear buoyancy aids with the exception of those entered in Division 6 or higher with their Team Leader's permission. The race organiser may insist that additional paddlers of any division wear buoyancy aids and or spray decks if conditions on the day warrant this.
Rules: Races will be conducted as per BC Marathon Racing Rules. Club vests/colours must be worn for Hasler points to be awarded.
Courses:
2 mile Geoff Sanders course - heading downstream from the club for one mile and turning around the buoy above Avoncliff weir before heading back upstream finishing at the club. No portages.
4 mile Divisions 7-9 course - two loops of the Geoff Sanders 2 mile course. No portages.
8 mile Divisions 4-6 course - follows Geoff Sanders course before continuing upstream past the club, portaging up the town weir (marshals will be present to assist) before continuing upstream past the sailing club and turning around the black railway bridge. Competitors then paddle back down to the town weir, portaging and continuing downstream past the club turning around the buoy above Avoncliff weir before paddling upstream to finish at the club.
12 mile Divisions 1-3 course: identical to the 8 mile course however instead of turning at the black railway bridge, competitors paddle up to Staverton weir pool, turning around the buoy before heading back to the black railway bridge and rejoining the 8 mile course route.
Additional Info: Sea kayaks & surf skis are welcome to enter and will be eligible for club points however, please note the portage area around the town weir can be quite shallow. Safety cover will be provided and various points along the course. As per Marathon racing rules, paddlers are obliged to stop and help any fellow paddlers in difficulty. Race control and first aid will be based at the BOACC club house.
Toilets and limited change facilities are available on site.
Hot food, cakes, hot & cold drinks will be available.
