Brigg Marathon

Glanford and Scunthorpe Canoe Club invites you to join us on 26^th March for a Hasler marathon and Geoff Sanders event as part of the Yorkshire regional series.

Venue

The race starts and finishes in front of GSCC's boathouse behind the Ancholme Leisure Centre, Scawby Rd, Brigg, North Lincolnshire, DN20 9JH (Whatthreewords - sweeten.trickle.radiating). There is ample parking at the Leisure Centre, but the area immediately adjacent to the boathouse is prioritised for trailers and disabled spectator parking. If possible please drop off boats then park in the main car park adjacent to the road bridge.

The Event

The event will consist of a divisional Hasler marathon and Geoff Sanders Trophy

The races will be run in accordance with the BC Marathon Committee rules.

A SUP fun race will also be available.

Junior Paddlers

We seek to encourage youngsters to participate in Marathon Racing.  We have a small fleet of Lightnings and junior length paddles available. Clubs are invited to bring juniors without boats to enter the Geoff Sanders divisions subject to the membership restrictions below.

Distances

Division 1-3 singles and 2 & 3 doubles – 12.4 miles. One portage

Division 4-6 singles and doubles – 8.3 miles.  One portage

Division 7-9 singles and doubles – 4.2 miles.

Geoff Sanders Trophy A (Age under 14 at 1^st January 2023), B & C(under 12s)– 2 miles

SUP fun race 2 miles.

All regional paddlers in Divisions 9 and above should wear their club colour to qualify for Hasler points. A plain coloured T-shirt in club colours is also acceptable.

Entry Fees

£8.00 – 18 years and over per seat  

£6.00 – Under 18’s in Hasler divisions

£2.50 – Geoff Sanders Trophy (£3 shown on entries site -£2.50 will be charged)

£2.50 – SUP

All entrants must have full British Canoeing membership for Div 1-6 or, at least, BC Associate Club membership for Div 7, 8, 9 and Geoff Sanders Trophy. Otherwise a British Canoeing Event fee of £5 will be payable as per rule 12b.

Direct payment is not available online via MRC Registration so please check-out without paying. Team leaders please pay on the day (Cash or cheque to Glanford and Scunthorpe Canoe Club).

Please enter in advance if possible - entries will also be accepted on the day but will require proof of BC membership.
