Div 1, 2 and 3 K1 – 12 miles
Div 3 K2 - 12 miles
Div 4, 5, 6 K1 & K2 - 8 miles
Div 7, 8, 9 K1 & K2 - 4 miles

Two mile race will be on the canal with 1 turn
Four mile race will be on river and canal with 1 turn.
Eight and twelve mile races will have two portages and be run on a tidal section of the Exe that can be exposed. Spray decks and buoyancy aids may be made compulsory.

Refreshments
Our famous veggie or meat chilli and rice will be provided free of charge for competitors after the event. Breakfast and chilli also available for purchase by non-competitors (cash only please).
Rules:
The race will be run in accordance with the current British Canoeing Marathon Racing Committee Rules.
Safety:
All provisions of ‘Rule 5 - Safety’ apply and participants are deemed to be aware of and accept these.
Participants specific attention is drawn to;
- All Div 7, 8 & 9 competitors must wear approved buoyancy aids, in accordance with rule 5) b) iii).
- Should conditions require it, paddlers in Div 1 – 6 may also be required to wear buoyancy aids in accordance with rule 5) d) i).
- Team Leaders are responsible for ensuring all boats have adequate buoyancy.
- There can be a large number of hire canoes and SUP’s on the water and an unpredictable reaction is to be expected. Keep well clear and shout directions to them if necessary and thank them for complying.
Participation:
Canoeing and Kayaking is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore inherently involves an element of risk. Participants should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own action and involvement.
Registration:
Please enter via the Marathon Racing website; https://entries.gbcanoemarathon.co.uk/entries by Friday 26th May. Late entries are accepted on the day with a late entry surcharge.
Fees:
Senior: £12 per seat, Junior: £8 per seat, Geoff Sanders £5.00. Late entry £3.00.

Event Ticket; paddlers not listed on the BC Marathon Racing List (as per the latest list available) will require an Event Ticket. This is an additional fee of £3 (to cover the Race Levy payable to BC Marathon Racing Committee).
Notes;
South West Regional Number Boards will be provided to be displayed vertically. Failure to return will result in a charge of £5.
All paddlers must wear club colours to score Hasler points.
Please inform the race organisers of any medical condition that may affect any paddler’s performance or put them at extra risk.
Hazards
Motorised craft, fishermen, swans, weeds, some high banks, rowers, hire canoes and SUP’s, shallow water, tidal flow, ferry wire acrosss river, salmon net.
Local organisations have been notified but the unpredictable reaction and technical capability of the public in hire canoes and SUPS (of which there can be substantial numbers in places along the course) should be noted and rule 2c in the handbook must be followed ‘racing shall be conducted in a manner that considers the safety of the officials, spectators, paddlers and members of the public’
Prizes
First 3 places in all classes with 4 or more entries, first 2 places for classes with 3 entries.
Safeguarding
Event Welfare Officer has been appointed. Whilst there are showers and toilets no separate junior changing is available.
