The race will be held in accordance with PUK Marathon racing rules and is a Midlands Regional Hasler Trophy Race

Division 1 - 6, singles, 2, 3,4, 5 & 6 doubles 1.00 pm
(F8) A PUK event fee of £5 is payable for non-PUK members and those unable to prove their membership in division 7 to 9. Divisions 1 to 6 are NOT allowed to race without proof of PUK membership (If they haven’t raced for 5yrs, they can then buy an event ticket)

The Club reserve the right, without prior notice, to alter any of these arrangements should the weather or any other circumstances warrant it.
Briefing All morning paddlers should check in at the club house by 10.30am, briefing will take place at 10.45am for division 7,8,9,10 singles 7, 8 and 9 doubles and lightning race and 12.15 for all other races. Afternoon paddlers must check in by 11.45am.

Numbering / Club Colours All racing kayaks should be fitted with a white number board to the rear, numbered as described in this year’s Racing Handbook (F9). Illegible numbers will receive no points. Also, paddlers not wearing club colours as registered will not be awarded points.
Buoyancy Team leaders are reminded that all paddlers in division 7, 8, 9 & GST must wear approved buoyancy aids. Any other inexperienced paddlers at team leader’s discretion.
Boat Buoyancy – F6 requires paddlers to ensure that they have adequate buoyancy in their boat including those with vac bagged boats. This means that foam, airbags or sealed bulkheads must be visible.
Information There are a number of hazards such as narrow bridges , bends and oncoming boats so paddlers are requested to keep to the RIGHT and act at all times in a courteous manner to other canal users.
Refreshments Light refreshments will be available free to all competitors A good variety of hot and cold refreshments will be on sale for spectators.
Prizes 1st, 2nd & 3rd & highest placed 'C' boat for all races depending on entry.
Notes to Competitors
- Team leaders should decide if paddlers under 16 years of age in higher divisions should wear a buoyancy aid.
- The race organiser has the final say on who has to wear a buoyancy aid.
- Team Leaders are responsible for ensuring that paddlers are properly equipped having taken into account the paddler’s health, fitness, capability, the course, the prevailing conditions and other risks associated with this race.
- The race will be run in accordance with British Canoeing's Marathon Racing Committee rules.
- It is possible that paddlers will encounter other craft on the canal. Keep right where possible, but ultimately, use the safest side to pass.
- Competitors must render their boats sufficiently buoyant to remain afloat and to support the crew in the event of capsize.
- During the course of a competition any items discarded by a competitor anywhere other than in a proper bin, must be recovered by the athlete, their support crew or coach immediately. It is the athlete’s responsibility to ensure that this has happened. An event official witnessing non-compliance with this rule shall report the infringement to the race organiser and the offending competitor will be disqualified from the competition.
- Gailey Canoe Club and its nominated officials cannot be held responsible for any loss of life, injury or damage to equipment however caused.
- You agree that we may publish your Personal Information as part of the results of the Event and may pass such information to the governing body or any affiliated organisation for the purpose of insurance, licences or for publishing results either for the event alone or combined with or compared to other events. Results may include (but not be limited to) name, any club affiliation, race times, occupation and age category.
- Any disputes over race results must be made by the team leader within 1 hour of the results being published.
‘Gailey CC will assume that all paddlers entering this race are competent paddlers and that their equipment has been checked by themselves as being ‘fit for purpose’. Any medical conditions needing special consideration on race day must be disclosed to the race organisers on entry.’
