*As well as anyone who may wish to participate, we invite Paddle-Ability and Additional Needs Paddlers to participate in the Fun race (or Hasler races if appropriate). The focus of the fun race will be on personal challenge and fun rather than competition! We will help where possible but if the paddler has specific needs it is advised that they bring someone to assist them.
The organisers reserve the right to amend the course or safety rules as necessary subject to weather conditions or other factors.
We will be closely following government advice regarding the Coronavirus and will update Covid guidance for the event if required.
Racing Rules: as per BC Marathon Racing Committee rules, Vertical number plates for all divisions, Buoyancy aids for all paddlers in Divs. 7, 8, 9 and Geoff Saunders/fun race. There will be safety cover on the lake but competitors are still expected to ensure the safety of other competitors.
Current BC cards or Junior Section Cards, to be shown at registration.
A BC event fee of £5 is payable for non-BC members and those unable to prove their membership in division 7 to 9. Divisions 1 to 6 are NOT allowed to race without proof of BC membership. All entries must be payable in cash as we have no card facilities.
Estate Rules: There are no bicycles allowed in the park. We need to protect the lake from any invasive species and so a boat wash station will be in place using disinfectant. Boats will not be allowed on the lake without being disinfected on-site by ourselves. No boats can be stored inside the park so there will be a boat storage area outside of the fence. Boats will be taken from the area as paddlers get on the water and must be removed from the park immediately after the race.
Spectators: Everyone entering the park as part of the event will be given a wrist band that must be displayed throughout the day to gain access to the park from the carpark. Access will be through the boathouse and not through the Park visitor entrance. Spectator areas will be clearly signed, anyone moving past these areas without park tickets will be removed by Trentham security and will not be allowed to re-enter the park.
REFRESHMENTS: Hot and cold efreshments will be on sale to racers and spectators. It will be cash only as we do not have card facilities.
The café in the park will also be open.
Paddler-only light refreshments are available free after their race.
FEES: Seniors £10.00 per seat
Juniors £6.00 per seat
Geoff Saunders K1/K2 and Fun race £5.00 per person
(There will be no second entry fee if juniors enter both Geoff Saunders K1 and K2 events)
ENTRIES:
Please use the Race Entry System to send in your entries via; https://entries.gbcanoemarathon.co.uk/entries
Or send entries in advance by email to;
tcchaslerentries@gmail.com
Late entries on the day will be accepted but are not preferred and may delay registration.
We hope to see you all there!
GDPR Data protection statement:
“You agree that we may publish your Personal Information as part of the results of the Event and pass such information to the governing body or any affiliated organisation for the purposes of insurance, licences or for publishing results either for the event alone or combined with or compared to other events. Results may include (but not be limited to) name, any club affiliation, race times, gender and age category”.
How to find us
We are located at the South end of Trentham Lake. Follow directions for the Trentham Monkey Forest and NOT Trentham Gardens or Trentham Shopping Village. ST12 9HR is the postcode for Strongford Garage (opposite our carpark) which is shown on the map below.
Carpark and Boat storage
There will be marshals to direct everyone to the carpark area. Between the carpark and the boathouse you will see the boat wash and boat store area.
Please ensure that boats have been through the boat wash area before your race briefing to avoid delays and potentially missing your start. Boats will only be allowed into the park after the race briefing and only when coming directly from the boat storage area.
