All paddlers should note that there may be barge traffic on the canal and in particular note that they should take special care at the narrow bridges.
The organisers reserve the right to amend the course or safety rules as necessary subject to weather conditions or other factors.
We will be following government advice and will update Covid guidance for the event if required.
Rules: as per BC Marathon Racing Committee rules, Vertical white number plates for all divisions, buoyancy aids are required for all paddlers in Divs. 7, 8, 9 and Geoff Saunders and fun races.
All boats must contain sufficient buoyancy to keep them afloat if swamped. Lightning boats must also be fitted with airbags.
There will not be any safety cover on the canal - competitors are expected to assist any other paddlers who get into difficulties.

A BC event fee of £5 is payable for non-BC members and those unable to prove their membership in division 7 to 9. Divisions 1 to 6 are NOT allowed to race without proof of BC membership.
